Gonna preface this by saying I’m a dude who identifies as heterosexual.
It absolutely sucks that it takes some people having a personal experience with someone who’s gay - say, their son or daughter - for them to support gay marriage or equal opportunity for homosexuals. But this guy is a guy who was very, very close to being the #2 guy in his party last year, and to this day, carries a lot of clout within the US Senate on economic and foreign policy issues - and he just completely did an about face on a central plank in the Republican platform. If you look at the names who signed onto the pro-Prop 8 Republican brief - these people are mostly former elected officials or administration officials. They don’t have to worry about being re-elected any time soon, or losing their position of privilege within the party. This guy does. He went out on a limb for his kid, and for the gay marriage movement. And as much as I don’t like the dude’s economic policies or foreign policies, it’s much more than you can say for Obama, who came out for it, but about four years too late when it was completely uncontroversial for him to do so within his party.
Solid work, Rob Portman.

Marina Abramovic meets Ulay
“Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again. at her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing it and this is what happened.”
Not generally a person that follows fine art, but I probably stared at this for five straight minutes.

Very early on in the art direction process for the You Blew It! / Fake Problems split we just released, we thought it would be cool / funny to feature all of the members of each band in individual photographs that we’d somehow stitch together, or “Brady Bunch” together in Photoshop after the fact. We only ever got around to shooting Tim & Tanner of You Blew It! with a myriad of props and then the idea was scrapped in favor of a different direction. These are some of the better shots from this failed direction. Enjoy.
welp
